I gazed at my own reflection until I could no longer doubt the appearance of what looked to be a third eye, emerging from within the mirror itself . Looking down, I wondered if I had imagined it, but the harder I fought to make sense of what I was seeing, the harder it became to deny that its well-intentioned presence had not been there all along.

It was then that I realized that I could either choose to live with this new reality, or blind myself to it for good.
Fortunately for the both of of us, the shears had been left in the other room.
